Investment Policy

We consider investments in all kinds of liquid financial assets.

In our search for suitable investments, we focus more on Risk than on Return. Our highest priority is on preventing losses.

It seems counterproductive to put a high importance on Risk after several years in a Bull Market. However, it is exactly during those periods where Risk might be the highest. This is because it is out of focus and investors tend to overpay for good investments and bad investments.

Investment managers have to prove, in a bear market, that great performance was earned through skill and not just by taking higher risks in a bull market. We want to be ready when risks materialize, without giving up our performance.

We do not consider past volatility as the main risk factor, but recognize risk as being composed of financial, legal, political and behavioral factors. Therefore, we try to understand the world around our investments, the story behind the companies, as well as the behavior of the investors buying or selling participation in a given company and to never put short term performance over long term Risk.

Because Risk is mostly not calculable and very difficult to analyze, Risk Management can only be judged after risk materialized.

That is why we consider that investors should focus on two factors:

A guaranteed alignment to the fund manager through a, relative to his situation, high investment

Trust in the capabilities of the fund manager

People

Marc Daubenfeld's primary focus for the last 22 years was the financial markets. He participated, as a teenager, in the glorious hype of the end-90s and was for the first time confronted by financial risk in the early 2000s when many investors got wiped out of the markets.

He holds a Master in Economics from the Louis Pasteur University (2002), together with a Master in Law from the University Robert Schuman (2004), both located in Strasbourg, France. In addition, he received a LL.M. in Tax Law from the Universität zu Koeln in 2007. Currently, he is finishing his Master in Wealth Management (2018) from the University of Luxembourg.

He gained practical experience as a tax lawyer and also as a financial officer for a Luxembourg based wholesaler of technical industrial products. He also served as a financial advisor for mid-sized companies and figured as a property developer.

This experience with different sectors combined with his diverse, theoretical background, helps him have a broader view of the investment world.
